Peds Program List Help
Medical School: Southeast DO program
Preclinical GPA: 3.5
Clerkship grades: P/HP/H - 6 H, 4 HP (including peds)
M4 grades: Honors in outpatient M4 peds rotation, away not until after ERAS submission
Class rank: unknown, probably 2nd quartile
Level 1: Pass
Level 2: 567 (~68th percentile last year)
SSP: no
Research: 1 first-author clinical science manuscript submitted to a moderate impact journal, a few published middle author papers in moderate to low impact journals, and 1 poster
Extracurriculars: college athlete and team captain, college RA, worked for several years in research before med school, longitudinal research project in school, some volunteering and mentoring as experiences but not significant
Awards: scholarship for medical school, multiple college athlete awards/honors
LORs: Dept chair letter, outpatient M4 peds letter from notable pediatrician, M3 family medicine preceptor where I functioned with the responsibilities of a resident
Red flags: none
Career goals: not sure - outpatient gen peds vs. some fellowships seem interesting
Geographic preferences: South-Atlantic and East South Central
Hoping to gauge if this list and these signals seem reasonable. Some of my reaches could be a little lofty, but based on geographic preferences and restrictions for family I can't really look elsewhere. I have extensive personal connections to Duke and Vanderbilt, though not in the realm of pediatrics. I feel I am reasonably competitive based on hard data, but am absolutely open to feedback and a reality check. Thanks in advance!
